Description

Fe y Justicia Worker Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to serve as a safe space for low-wage workers to learn about their workplace rights and organize to improve conditions on the job.

Fe y Justicia Worker Center seeks a Grassroots Fundraising Intern to assist in the planning of its Annual Fiesta Gala. The internship is intended to provide learning environment for the Intern to gain skills and experience in event planning and grassroots fundraising strategies.

Requirements:

  • 3.0 GPA
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office, Internet, and e-mail
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice
  • Able to work 10 to 15 hours a week

Responsibilities:

Intern will work with FJWC Executive Director and Gala Committee Members to:

  • Seek bids, ensuring costs stay within event budget;
  • Outreach to local businesses to recruit donations;
  • Promote the event with allies, new contacts, and the media;
  • Communicate and coordinate with event volunteers, the venue hosts, and guests; and
  • Provide general Office Admin support, answering phones, data entry, writing e-mail alerts, mailings, etc.
