COMMUNICATIONS & SPECIAL EVENTS INTERNSHIP
The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Northern California is seeking a Communications & Special Events Intern for its 2013 Kidney Walks. The internship will focus on promoting, marketing and planning the logistics for the San Francisco and Silicon Valley Kidney Walks, which occur in April and June. The intern will work out of NKF's San Francisco office in the financial district and will report to the Development Managers.
About National Kidney Foundation
NKF assists more than thousands of Northern California kidney dialysis patients, transplant patients, and individuals at varying stages of kidney disease. Funded programs include free risk assessments and screenings, research fellowships, organ donor information, college scholarships, patient seminars, and professional and public education.

Skills Required:
Our ideal candidate exudes enthusiasm over the phone and in-person. They will need to be detail-oriented, willing to take initiative and able to manage time wisely with multiple projects. Other required skills include:
Education Required:
College junior level or higher studying public relations, marketing or other communications-related field. Introductory courses in journalism, public relations and/or marketing desired.
Time Commitment:
10-15 hours/week. A schedule that works with both the candidate and NKF staff will be established before internship begins. Must be available during office hours (NKF office is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday). Internship runs from February through June.
Benefits of Internship:
While there is no financial compensation for this internship, it serves as an opportunity to obtain first-hand experience assisting in communications for a major event. The Communications Intern will gain valuable experience researching and working with Bay Area media outlets, vendors and representatives of the Bay Area's largest corporations and organizations. Skills such as communication, event planning, and time management will be developed over the course of the internship. After the successful completion of the internship, NKF will serve as a reference for future career opportunities.
