Internship description

Service learning intern needed!!!

Looking for people who can multi-task. Individuals will be performing a portion of the Service Learning experience in the thrift store of the Marietta Homeless Authority and a portion in the food bank.

Service Tasks include:

  • working cash register
  • pricing goods
  • hanging clothes
  • consulting and greeting customers (essential for learning task)
  • clerical duties
  • photo document and participate in events held at organization (essential for learning task)

Learning Tasks include:

  • collaborate with director to assist the homeless
  • multiple journal responses reflecting on impact of intern's efforts at the homeless authority
  • observe, innovate and initiate a project to meet the needs of those they have worked with
  • end of internship deliverable: successful completion of project, journal, presentation to community leaders and organization sponsors

Must have a pleasant disposition and be flexible. Multiple interns will be accepted throughout the course of the year beginning January 2013 through June 2013.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, 2 letters of recommendation from school professors and transcripts from an accredited university or college to info@mariettahomelessauthority.com. Candidates should have a cummulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. High school students are also welcome to apply to this internship as well. Items to submit are a cover letter, 2 letters of recommendation from teachers, transcripts from current high school with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and a work permit.
