Description

DirectWomen, a project of the Tides Center, works to increase the representation of women on corporate boards. We identify, develop and support a growing group of accomplished women attorneys who provide the experience, independence and diversity required for good corporate governance.

We are seeking a full-time, temporary Intern to support the work of DirectWomen from approximately May 28, 2013 to June 25, 2013. The intern is a non-exempt position. Interns work 40 hours per week. Time beyond 40 hours is at the manager's discretion.

Position Overview

The Intern assists the DirectWomen Program Director, primarily, in preparing for the Sandra Day O'Connor Board Excellence Award Luncheon to be held June 13, 2013 in New York City, and DirectWomen Alumnae Meeting, to be held June 12, 2013 and June 13, 2013. Duties include but are not limited to implementation of our signature events. Specifically, this will include handling faxing and photocopying, contacting event guests to learn of dietary or other preferences, preparing check-in lists and conference badges, stuffing conference bags, mail distribution, preparing and packing conference materials, responding to general inquiries, and staffing the Luncheon and Alumnae Meeting.

This Internship provides an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience with high-end event planning and non-profit management.

Qualifications

  • Must be in the process of obtaining an undergraduate or graduate degree, or be a recent graduate
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with MS Office, with emphasis on Word and Excel
  • Interest in or knowledge of women's issues, corporate governance, and/or event planning desired, but not necessary
