Description: Looking for a college student who is interested in communications and/or marketing (or enrolled as Communications and Marketing major) and has a strong desire to hone their writing skills. This position is integral to Safe Harbors, as the communications and marketing intern supports the workflow and communication efforts and directly assists the Communications and Marketing Associate. Applicant should be neat, detail oriented, motivated, and dependable.Safe Harbors of the Hudson is a unique non-profit organization whose mission is transforming lives and building communities through housing and the arts. As part of a major redevelopment project in the City of Newburgh, Safe Harbors transformed the infamous Hotel Newburgh into attractive, well designed supportive housing, is restoring the City's only remaining historic theater and opened the Ann Street Gallery and the Ritz Theater Lobby, creating a cultural destination on lower Broadway.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting with general office duties, such as answering telephone and office organization tasks
- Assist with social media efforts including posting updates on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media sites
- Manage and maintain media contact list
- Assist with website content management tasks
- Assist with mailings, distribution of event fliers
- Archive filing and management
- Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office
- Assist in the creation of enewsletters; writing marketing messages, compiling and organizing photos and content
- Assist in creating concise, accurate and informative email blasts for upcoming event and news for the organization
- Event preparation, distribution of fliers, postcards, and other promotional materials
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Enrolled as Communications and Marketing major, 1+ years of experience in marketing, or marketing administration and customer service is a plus
- Internet abilities and strong communication skills; written and oral
- Advanced word processing skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word
- Experience with detail‐driven projects preferably in a marketing department
- Basic understanding of marketing/communication tools and techniques a plus
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines
- Ability to proofread
- Flexible and proactive in taking on assignments and responsibilities, and willingness to learn
