Internship description

We are looking for somebody to work with us to coordinate weekly musical entertainment for our Farmer's Market from June to the end of October, 2013.

This person would be responsible for filling two musical slots per week, helping with the weekly PR of the market (including social media), and helping to set up and break down the music area each week at the market.

The Winchester Farmers Market is in it's 6th year and has become one of the most successful markets in the northwest region because of it's high quality vendors, it's picturesque setting on the town common, and because of the enjoyable entertainment that attracts people of all ages.

The market runs every Saturday, June through October from 9:30am to 1:30pm. We have two music time slots - 9:30 to 11:30 and from 12 - 1:30. During the half hour break (11:30 - 12) the bands are breaking down/setting up, and we have a food demo in front of the tent.

We have a great list of local bands (Winchester and surrounding community) to work with, but we can always add more. Each band usually signs up to play once or twice a season. These bands have never been paid to perform. Instead, the coordinator walks around with a basket and collects food donations from the market vendors to give to the members of the band. The farmers are so thankful to have music that they are happy to give a bag of corn or apples for the band to take home. We have always been up front about this and have never had any issues. Our entertainers have returned year after year for the enjoyment of playing on the common and to take home something like a bag full of squash, a handful of basil, and a loaf of bread! :)
