Refugee Document Compilation Internship

Description

Overview of position: The Refugee Document Compilation Intern will compile and create documents that increase United Nations' refugees sustainability in the Tucson Community. Materials will educate the refugees of Iskashitaa's services, navigating Tucson and green practices. Materials created and compiled by intern will be posted on Iskashitaa's website and refugees. Intern will coordinate the translation of these educational materials into various languages including Kiswahili, Nepali, French, Somali and Arabic providing key information to the refugee community.

Specific Tasks:

  1. Create and compile educational materials and flyers
  2. Coordinate the translation of educational materials
  3. Upload and organize educational material created on Iskashitaa webpage
  4. Research locations where materials can be distributed

Time Required: 6-9 hours per week. Equivalent of 2 or 3 credit course hours.

Qualifications: 4 year degree or 2 year associate's degree or the equivalency in experience

Physical/Age Requirements: None/ Adult

Skills/Education:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong oral communication and writing skills
  • Interest and/or experience in food justice and sustainability, environmental science, nutrition, local foodshed management and/or botany
  • Preferred multi-lingual capacity or experience working with multilingual populations- Languages utilized Kiswahili, Nepali, French, Somali, Arabic (not required)
  • Knowledge of HTML (preferred)

Experience: Minimum of two year previous nonprofit or volunteer work or the equivalent

Training Required: On-site Iskashitaa training, Refugee 101 and internship application.
