ABOUT COMMONWEALTH LAND TRUST:

Established in 1985, Commonwealth Land Trust (CLT) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is dedicated to preserving neighborhoods and preventing homelessness. CLT owns and manages over 350 units of affordable housing and provides on-site case management services to many of Massachusetts' most vulnerable residents. Linking housing and care, CLT works to rebuild lives and communities.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING INTERNSHIP:

The Supportive Housing department of Commonwealth Land Trust supports our organization's mission to end homelessness by assisting prospective residents through the application process and supporting current residents in their efforts to remain housed. Supportive housing interns assist residents and applicants with required paperwork. They give tours of our properties and explain our programs to prospective residents. Supportive housing interns acquire a great degree of knowledge about affordable housing and homelessness in Massachusetts. Supportive housing interns work in a casual office setting. (There is a dog named Sophie who hangs out in the back office.)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading tours of our properties
  • Disseminating information to prospective applicants
  • Fielding general resident concerns
  • Assisting with annual recertifications
  • General office duties such as faxing, filing, and copying
  • Revision and translation of forms
  • Collecting demographic data
  • Creating resident newsletters

Supervision: Ongoing supervision will be provided by CLT's Supportive Housing Manager

Number of Openings: One

Hourly requirements: 16 hours/week

Qualifications:

  • Attention-to-detail
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Superior writing ability
  • Superior research skills
  • Bilingual capability (Spanish-English) is helpful
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills
  • Prefer college graduate or undergraduate/graduate students in social work, counseling psychology, education, public health, or gender/women's studies
