CKNU Summer Internship

The Intern's primary role is to assist the Campus Kitchen Coordinator in daily operations in a way that enables the successful implementation of CKNU's Feeding our Future program as well as our regular operations. The Intern will take on leadership responsibilities, learn valuable networking skills and will be asked to participate in many aspects of the administration of this non-profit organization. The Intern can also work with the Campus Kitchen Coordinator to develop a specific project or initiative related to the Intern's skills and interests.

CKNU Summer Intern responsibilities include:

  • Leading our main operations: meal, delivery, and food rescue shifts
  • Co-leading our summer programming Feeding our Future
  • Managing CKNU student and community volunteers
  • General shift paperwork, record keeping and filing will be completed each week
  • Volunteer recruitment via e-mails, flyers, volunteer fairs, and scheduling
  • Other programmatic details including but not limited to: food drives, volunteer trainings, and grant writing

  • Takes initiative
  • Organized
  • Ability to manage and delegate tasks to volunteers
  • Ability to multi-task and must be flexible
  • Previous volunteer experience
  • Experience/interest in the non-profit sector
  • Experience/interest in working with food
  • Ability to work with people of all backgrounds
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment
  • Strong ability to work independently as well as in a team setting

Who Should Apply

The internship is open to all majors, students, and volunteers especially those with strong leadership experience. We encourage those who have experience/interest in the fields of social work, nonprofit management, education, and public health to apply. Interns must have a valid driver's license and if applicable be willing to become van certified at NorthwesternUniversity.
