Air Traffic Control (ATC) is a collaborative and dynamic team working to provide strategy and support to artists creating social change. We are at an inflection point growing from startup to scale and, at this exciting and critical moment, we are looking for one to two interns who are passionate about social justice and eager to learn more about the non-profit sector to join our team. We might share our name with air traffic controllers, but you're more likely to see a musician or comedian walk through our office door than an airline pilot.

About Us

Air Traffic Control (ATC) provides strategy and support to cultural leaders so they can play an effective and vital role in the promotion of social justice. ATC has become artists' air traffic control—one that develops capacity, efficiency, and coordination to produce stronger and more creative change partnerships.

About You

You are interested in this exciting and unique field at the intersection of activism, philanthropy, and culture. You have experience in interactive publishing, journalism, videography, photography or another multimedia field. You are a storyteller with creativity, critical thinking skills, and a strong writing background.

What you will gain from this experience:

  • A unique experience at the only organization providing long term support and strategy to artists creating change
  • A hands-on understanding of nonprofits, activism, and philanthropy
  • Depending on your activities, experience with some combination of: YouTube, Social Media channels, Sparkwise
  • Brown bag lunches with yet to be determined leaders in philanthropy, the music industry, activism, and other fields. Previous brown bag lunches have included Erin Potts and Deyden Tethong sharing their experience creating the International Tibetan Freedom Concerts and Stu Smith of CrowdSurge (previously of Red Light Management).

Primary Responsibilities:

Depending on the intern's strengths and interests, responsibilities will include some combination of the following:

  • Documenting, curating and archiving media assets
  • Creating and/or assisting in creating multimedia assets
  • Populating ATC's YouTube page with actionable videos by artists and other cultural leaders
  • Gathering metrics from artists' social media channels and from related campaigns
  • Biweekly review of our website and blog

Key experience and strengths:

  • Experience in multimedia or archiving: interactive publishing, journalism, videography, photography or another field
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically + creatively
  • We would like to know if you have experience in: design, digital photography, film, social

Logistics:

We are offering either an intensive 2-3 week internship or a longer term10-12 week internship but have flexibility regarding duration, start and end dates, hours, and occasional telecommuting.

Note: This internship is available to all, regardless of your financial situation. While this internship is unpaid, ATC will help excellent candidates explore options and otherwise support ways to lessen the financial burden of interning with us.
