About CHIRLA:
The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1986 to advance the human and civil rights of immigrants and refugees in Los Angeles. As a multi-ethnic coalition of community organizations and individuals, CHIRLA aims to foster greater understanding of issues that affect immigrant communities, provide a neutral forum for discussion, and unite immigrant groups to more effectively advocate for positive change. CHIRLA's programs include coalition-building and convening of organizations, advocacy around issues affecting immigrants and refugees, community education, service provision and technical assistance, and organizing and leadership development for immigrant workers and youth. Internship Details:
Intern should be available for a minimum of 15 hours a week for 10-12 weeks. Days and times are flexible but must fall between business hours of 9am -5pm. Some of the work can be done out of site as long as the individual is available via e-mail and phone.
Requirements:
Candidates should possess excellent time-management and organizational skills. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) is required. A fundamental understanding of typography, photography and layout for print and web is strongly recommended.
The intern will work on creating marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, logos, print advertising and web graphics for fundraising and advocacy campaigns. In addition to assisting with the design and production of marketing materials the intern will also be responsible for collecting research materials and helping to organize/archive jobs.
Note: This position is unpaid, but will include a Letter of Recommendation and portfolio pieces.
