Environmental interns are needed to help Women in Progress and member businesses of women's cooperative (Global Mamas) engage in environmentally sustainable practices. The intern will conduct an overall review of current environmental practices and create an action plan that will reflect Women in Progress' commitment to operating an environmentally sustainable NGO. The internship will be customized specifically to your academic track, skill set, and interests. An advisor will be assigned to you to help guide you in your new pursuit. Internships are offered year round in lengths of 2 weeks to 4 months depending on your schedule. Make a difference in the future of small woman-owned businesses in Africa.

Departure Dates: Women in Progress volunteer and internship programs operate year round in Ghana. Our dates are flexible and we can work around your availability and school schedule.

Fees: Interns and volunteers generously contribute their time and skills and pay a reasonable fee to help cover the costs of housing and managing a superior internship program including full-time staff support. Women in Progress is a non-profit organization and students can fundraise to cover their internship fees.

The Internship/Volunteer Program Fee covers the following items: Pre-departure support, Orientation Packet, Lodging in Ghana, In-country volunteer support, Project-related expenses

To keep the overall cost down, interns and volunteers are responsible for obtaining various items before departure. Women in Progress will provide assistance as needed to help the volunteer in obtaining the following items:

  • Airline ticket
  • Travel medical insurance (including emergency evacuation coverage)
  • Visa to Ghana
  • Required vaccinations

In an effort to keep the program flexible enough to cover the needs and wants of all types of participants, volunteers are responsible for covering the cost of food and in-country ground transportation during their stay. Depending on one's level of required comfort, food and transport can be either pennies a day, or dollars a day.

Program Fees: Volunteer and Internship service can range from 2 weeks to 4 months. Program Fees vary based on the length of the assignment and range from $1,145 for three weeks to $1,795 for eight weeks to $2,315 for 12 weeks. For more information please visit us online at our website.
