Internship description

The National Wildlife Federation is seeking a motivated individual for a full-time paid 11 month internship to begin early January 2013 in Washington, DC. The Outreach Campaigns Intern will support NWF's field and online outreach efforts to mobilize outdoor enthusiasts to speak up for wildlife.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating rallies, tabling events, phone banking and other grassroots activities.
  • Organizing lobby days, where activists come to Washington, DC to meet with decision makers.
  • Communicating with NWF activists via phone, e-mail, and social media.
  • Writing blog posts and assisting in production of NWF campaign materials.
  • Logistical support including organizing meetings and other events, arranging travel, taking notes, and distributing grassroots campaign materials.
  • Compile and maintain records of field activities.

Formal Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills required.
  • Experience working on a campaign, grassroots organizing or advocating for an issue.
  • Excellent organization skills and some project coordination experience necessary.
  • Ability to work on a team and also follow through on assigned tasks independently.
  • Experience using social media tools.
  • Photoshop skills are useful but not essential.

The Intern must be available to work a 40-hour weekly schedule. Some travel may be required. This position offers $10/hour plus core benefits.
