Elders Share the Arts is a pioneering award-winning community arts organization. ESTA's mission is to empower older adults to find imaginative ways to express and share their life experiences through the arts. Our teaching artists work directly with a culturally diverse group of well and frail elders in community centers, libraries, senior centers, nursing homes, and hospitals. ESTA classes nurture elders' creativity while giving them opportunities for active, social engagement in building community.

General position description:

ESTA is looking for a candidate that is interested in non-profit management. This individual will gain first hand experience in working with the Executive Director and the Board of Elders Share the Arts.

The Executive Support & Board Relations Volunteer/Intern will provide general and administrative support for the Executive Director. Additional priorities include coordinating materials and logistics for Board and committee meetings, setting up and maintaining paper and electronic files, and correspondence.

Board Liaison

  • Support administrative and scheduling duties related to Board Committees.
  • Work as general liaison to Board members and the Executive Director.
  • Assist with Board stewardship (acknowledging Board gifts, holiday and birthday cards, other informational mailings)
  • Coordinate materials and logistics for the Board of Directors and Board Committees, including the compilation, proofreading, production and distribution of meeting materials to ensure quality and accuracy of materials, and minute taking.
  • Manage the Chairs's calendar and contacts in Outlook, and ensure the appropriate preparation and follow-up for appointments and communication with external parties.
  • Communicate dates for Board meetings, Executive Committee meetings, Finance Committee meetings and other committees.
  • Make all appropriate arrangements for meeting rooms and refreshments as well as gathering and distributing all pre-meeting information and materials.
  • Ensure that ample notice is given for all Board Meetings.
  • Take and distribute minutes at Board meetings.

    Type of Position: Intern/Volunteer (unpaid) at least college age
    Minimum Time Commitment: 3-6 hrs/week flexible * for a minimum of 4 months Fill date: Immediately

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with individuals
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both as a team player and independently
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel

Self-direct, problem-solve, and find the information needed to finish assigned projects.
