SUMMER 2013 Children & Youth Initiatives Intern

The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), home of McGruff the Crime Dog ®, seeks an Intern to work with the Children and Youth (CY) Initiatives team. This is a unique opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student to gain hands-on experience in crime prevention, program development, marketing, and research. We are looking for an individual with creative and innovative ideas to join our team!

Hours are flexible to your schedule.

Responsibilities

With guidance and supervision by the CY Team, the Intern will:

- Assist in developing and designing materials such as tip sheets, flyers, palm cards, and posters on crime prevention and personal safety practices;

- Collaborate with the team and brainstorm on inventive marketing strategies;

- Conduct research for topical areas and product development;

- Participate in meetings, conferences, and trainings as needed

Requirements

Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate classes

Understanding and interest in crime prevention

Ability to think creatively

Strong research and writing skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Ability to take initiative and work independently

Strong communication skills
