Build your Curriculum Vitae or resume by volunteering as a research assistant at the University of California, San Francisco's Fitness Aging and STress (FAST) Laboratory.

Dr. Eli Puterman, the Principle Investigator and director of the FAST Lab, is currently examining the potential of a randomized controlled exercise intervention on cellular health, stress, mood, and psychological wellbeing of family caregivers . Positions require a minimum of 10 hours volunteer a week at UCSF for 6 months.

This lab offers a variety of opportunities:

  • Learn about and participate in the various stages in the research process.
  • Provide coaching and conduct interviews with research study participants.
  • Research, plan, and present your own poster presentation, or paper in preparation for graduate school.
  • Attend group tutorials and lectures that address current issues in health psychology.
  • Work in a clinical setting conducting

Expectations for working in the lab: Research inters will assist in various tasks related to developing and conducting an intervention study; be responsible for ongoing communication with study participants; and assist with participant recruitment, screening, and retention. Research assistants will attend weekly meetings with the lab to discuss relevant topics in the field and to the current projects.

This is a great position for individuals interested in health psychology, medical school, physical therapy, psychology, and exercise physiology.
