Leave UR Mark has an opportunity in India for volunteers and interns who would like to gain hands on work experience in India's NGO and Non-Profit sector. This is a great opportunity for international interns to get an idea of the opportunities and challenges a small NGO faces in India as well as the impact it makes on the communities it works with. Interns will get to learn more about marginalized communities, assist on fair trade initiatives, and work on outreach programs.

Interns would work for an organization that provides income generation activities to marginalized communities of women and help preserve their regional cultural heritage through empowerment and a fair platform for skills development. Read interns experiences:

Interns will get experience with:

1)Understanding how community centers run

2)Assisting on health and education workshops and training programs for young girls and women

3)Working on case studies, documentation

4)Visiting slum neighborhoods to figure out ways out of the poverty cycle for women

5)Working on market linkage

6)Helping out at food festivals, exhibitions, and workshops to bring awareness about the plight of marginalized communities in India

7)Helping to distribute and disseminate marketing material to the urban public through stalls, exhibitions, etc.

How does this benefit an international intern coming to India?

  • Gain a first hand perspective into the inner workings of an Indian non-profit
  • Create a portfolio of work through tangible projects
  • Make connections and contacts within the development sector abroad
  • Learn how to manage, empower, and work alongside a team
  • Develop a deep understanding of what is making India succeed as well as what challenges it faces

Requirements:

1)Must be 18 years and older

2)Good command of English

3)Some knowledge and interest in international development

Leave UR Mark charges a $595 placement fee to help organize your trip Pre-Departure and internship placement. Leave UR Mark is there to help interns and travelers settle into India. We also arrange airport pickup, housing, food, and the services of a total country support for an additional cost.
