Credit Advocates is a non-profit consumer credit counseling agency. We are currently seeking an intern to work with our agency handle our clients and financial literacy programs. CACC targets underserved populations such as the homeless and impoverished.
The intern will be expected to engage in necessary activities for the running of Credit Advocates, such as administrative tasks and facilitating communication between Credit Advocates and contacts within the community. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the world of credit counseling and take part in handling clients' personal finance accounts.
DURATION, APPROXIMATE HOURS AND NEXT START DATE
• Duration: 4 months
• Approximate hours: 10-15 hours, 2-3 days a week, no weekends. Additional hours may be requested, subject to the intern's preference.
• Next Start Date: Open until filled
PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Orchestrating, along with other staff, community outreach for Credit Advocates;
• Facilitating contact between clientele and creditors;
• Greeting clients and directing them to the correct person;
• Preparing and aiding financial literacy classes;
• Administrative duties;
• Participating in Credit Advocate special projects.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• An interest in providing education to underserved communities;
• Creative mindset and willingness to learn;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to manage contacts and clients via email and phone;
• Flexibility and ability to multitask and manage open ended projects;
• Ability to work with groups and independently.
