Overview of position: The Food Sustainability and Education Intern will educate about local foods available in local farms, urban gardens and homeowners backyards that are harvested and redistributed to United Nations refugees and other at risk populations by Iskashitaa's harvesting program. Materials will educate the public of edible trees, harvest times and identification of fruits and vegetables. Materials created and compiled by intern will be posted on Iskashitaa's website, distributed to volunteers and refugees. Intern will coordinate the translation of these educational materials into various languages including Kiswahili, Nepali, French, Somali and Arabic providing key information about healthy fruits and vegetables to the refugee community.
Specific Tasks:
Time Required: 6-9 hours per week. Equivalent of 2 or 3 credit course hours.
Qualifications: 4 year degree or 2 year associate's degree or the equivalency in experience
Physical/Age Requirements: None/ Adult
Skills/Education:
Experience: Minimum of two year previous nonprofit or volunteer work or the equivalent
Training Required: On-site Iskashitaa training, Refugee 101 and internship application.
