Winter-Spring Internship 2013 | January - June

GBCHealth's Communications & Events Department seeks a full-time (40 hours/week) Events Management and Logistics intern for Winter/Spring 2013. The intern will receive a stipend.

The Communications & Events team directs GBCHealth's marketing, communications, media outreach and organizational events. We are currently in the process of planning our 2013 Conference and Awards Dinner and are looking for someone to support us in the planning and logistics for this event.

We are looking for someone who is meticulous and detail-oriented, proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and has a professional writing/communication style appropriate for liaising with high-level speakers and attendees. The ideal candidate will take initiative, act as a leader on given projects and handle interactions with vendors, partners and attendees with poise and a calm demeanor. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain project and vendor management experience. The position will require significant interactions with external parties, especially event vendors. At the event, this intern will play an important role in managing onsite logistics, helping the event lead ensure that the event runs smoothly and seamlessly.

Required skills and attributes:

  • Meticulous and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to manage and prioritize projects with multiple and often competing deadlines
  • Ability to work well and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with high-level speakers and attendees in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to work independently, under supervision and in a team-based and goal-oriented environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Position Overview:

About 60% of your time: • Support overall conference and dinner planning and logistics, which includes liaising with other GBCHealth departments and our event planner, tracking program needs and managing preparations for on-site technology • Support logistics and communications with dinner speakers

About 30% of your time: • Help manage vendor relationships

About 10% of your time: • Project lead for volunteer recruitment and management • Support communications and events research needs • Other general communications and event support, as needed

Compensation:

  • GBCHealth's Internship program provides students and professionals with a rich learning experience in a dynamic global organization.
  • The program is not salaried; however we provide the following stipends: Full-time Interns - $100/week; Part-time Interns - $50/week.
