EASE Program Internship
Everyday Arts for Special Education (EASE) seeks a Programs Intern to work approximately 3-5 days per week for 3 months (flexible).
About Everyday Arts for Special Education (EASE):
Funded by a $4.6 million Investing in Innovation (i3) grant, EASE equips teachers with arts-based strategies to advance student achievement in academic performance, communication, and socialization.
EASE seeks to initiate a systemic change in District 75's classroom environments, in which, through arts-based instruction, students with severe challenges are provided multiple entry points to learning.
Combining hands-on professional development workshops and extensive in-school support, EASE provides teachers with skills and strategies across multiple arts disciplines (music, dance, visual arts and theater) to help students achieve Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, as well as improved behavioral and academic outcomes.
Grounded in nearly 10 years of research, EASE has found this approach to be very effective enhancing student engagement, and believes this will help close the achievement gap between special education and general education students, increasing college- and career-readiness for those students taking standard assessment.
