The Pachamama Alliance seeks a highly motivated and committed intern to research topics and current events related to our work, write blog posts, build search engine optimization articles, and engage our social media channels to expand our online reach and engage people in our calls to action.

About The Pachamama Alliance

The Pachamama Alliance partners with the indigenous Achuar of the Ecuador Amazon to preserve their land and culture from the threat of development and resource extraction. Using insights gained from this work, we deliver workshops around the world designed to inspire and educate individuals everywhere to shift the dream of the modern world that drives the consumption threatening the Achuar. Through this work we aim to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, socially just, and spiritually fulfilling human presence on this planet. About the Internship

As a writing intern for The Pachamama Alliance, you will create marketable content that fuels our online presence, expands our online reach, and engages our existing audience. You will learn to share your content effectively on social media, and you will learn to optimize your content to show up in search engines. These actions will increase the number of followers on our social communities, the number of visitors coming to our websites, and the number people engaging in our educational programs and calls to action.

This internship is a wonderful opportunity to learn to write impactful blog and SEO content for non-profits that effectively engages an online audience in desired actions. You will work with a highly effective and skilled communications team, reporting directly to the Writer of our department. You may also engage in a variety of other tasks that support the Communications Department. Primary Responsibilities
  • Your main responsibilities will be focused around producing marketable content for our blog and website.
  • Research topics related to our work and author blog posts and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) pages about them
  • Stay up to date with current events related to our work and author blog posts about them
  • Publish your content to Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks
  • Optimize your content to show up in search results
  • Respond to comments on your content
  • Track the effectiveness of your content through Google Analytics and social media insights
Secondary Responsibilities
  • You may also be asked to participate in other responsibilities to support the Communications Department.
  • Create innovative and engaging Facebook and Twitter posts
  • Author press releases
  • Write and send "pitch" emails to bloggers and journalists
  • Assist with a variety of other communications tasks as needed
  • If you possess an advanced skill-set, there are opportunities for supporting paid advertising campaigns, building HTML email campaigns and web pages, and creating graphics
Experience
  • The ideal candidate has previous writing and research experience, is interested in marketing and communications, and is excited about using online tools to make a difference in the world
  • Experience in Search Engine Optimization, Facebook and Twitter maintenance is preferred, but not required
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker with translation experience preferred, but not required
