Marketing Assistant to promote community support of Re-Source York (RSY), a non-profit social enterprise selling quality donated home improvement items to the public, keeping usable materials out of landfills.
ONLINE
Intern will create and post relevant and engaging online content*, to include:
Photographing inventory and uploading images,
Regularly updating web site and FB to promote weekly specials at both stores, feature customer projects, acknowledge donors, and announce volunteer opportunities,
Posting items on Craig's List,
Researching and sharing information and ideas on DIY and home improvement topics,
Developing effective social media campaigns to increase online reach and store visits.
IN-STORE
Intern will help create engaging signage and displays to promote:
Weekly specials,
Customer projects,
Donor acknowledgement, and
Volunteer opportunities.
REQUIRED SKILLS & MINDSET
The ideal candidate will understand and believe in the value of social and environmental responsibility on a personal and community level.
Intern must be capable of interacting pleasantly and professionally with store staff, volunteers, and customers. An ability to plan work, stay on task and meet timelines in a self-motivated manner is crucial. Applicants should have top-notch written communication skills and possess proficient working knowledge of Facebook, WordPress, and Flickr. Capacity to film, edit and upload video components to YouTube a plus.
Current college juniors and seniors, recent graduates, graduate students and other adults with experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism and/or related fields are encouraged to apply for the position. Volunteer is supervised by Bell's director of Community Engagement, working closely with the RSY management team.
