Internship description

Internship

Fenton is a leading public interest PR firms with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, San Francisco and London. We develop and execute strategic media campaigns across a wide range of causes such as global warming, public health, violence prevention, and women's rights. Basically, we're really proud to help awesome, worthwhile issues be even better. We also like to balance our professionalism with fun, by eating cookies in our staff meeting, leaving amusing post-it notes on our colleague's desks, and emailing around videos of dogs.

This exciting opportunity has growth potential and is for those interested in pursuing a career in progressive communications. The successful candidate will work for, learn from and be mentored by experienced professionals as they conceive and roll out traditional and digital communications strategies. The ideal candidate will feel comfortable multi- tasking, be proactive and enjoy taking on new challenges in a creative environment. Please only apply if you are a media, digital and issues enthusiast, because we're a bunch of geeks for all of that.

  • Compiling, producing and distributing summaries of media coverage
  • Conducting stakeholder interviews
  • Crafting targeted pitch emails and making pitch calls
  • Drafting press materials and online content
  • Developing presentations and designing materials using a number of digital tools, such as PowerPoint, Keynote, and Photoshop.
  • Copyediting
  • Joining meetings and taking notes
  • Take part in and lead creative brainstorm sessions
  • Sharing cool finds about media, issues or the web that can help improve our work

Also, please do one of the following:

  1. In one tweet, tell us why you'd like this internship. e.g. @RossalynWarren I want to use my awesome media skills to help accelerate progress in women's rights. Preferably whilst also listening to 90s pop.
  1. You are given the opportunity to lead a "recess" (a talk or workshop) about something you think you can teach Fenton staff and that you're passionate about e.g. "How to make a pretty infographic" or "10 things you need to know about LGBT issues in America". What would you lead yours about?

No phone calls please. Unless you're Bill Murray.

People of color and LGBT candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Fenton Communications is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
