Internship description

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Greater Los Angeles Chapter is seeking a digital and social media intern to assist the Marketing Manager with improving the chapter's digital and social media with particular focus on engagement and user experience.

The digital and social media intern will report directly to the Marketing Manager. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital and social media strategy and management.

While interns may have the opportunity to interact with various campaigns, the primary projects will focus on the Greater Los Angeles 2014 Blood Cancer Conference and Blood Cancer Awareness Month.

Time Commitment:

10-15 hours per week

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop social media content and monthly content calendars
    (LLS Greater LA Chapter, Team In Training & Blood Cancer Conference)
  • Schedule and monitor activity on social media channels
  • Update chapter website and event pages
  • Use Exact Target to prepare and schedule emails (email marketing)
  • Collaborate with PR/Marketing Intern:
  • to maintain consistency for the 2014 Blood Cancer Conference messages shared via social media, emails and websites.
  • to gather and arrange information for Quarterly and Bi-Weekly emails

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in a two- to four- year institution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Facebook and Twitter and proficiency in major social platforms
    (Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to adapt to new assignments/deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment while also possesses the ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to commit to at 10-15 week internship working at least 10 hours per week.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the Greater Los Angeles office near LAX.
