Internship description

Seeds of Peace, a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to empowering teenagers from regions of conflicts with the leadership skills required to advance reconciliation and coexistence, is looking for full-time and part-time interns to work with the Events department of the organization.

The internship duration spans from January to May. All internship candidates will be considered as part of the general pool and then interviewed and assigned to specific departments as specified by the applicant and as deemed appropriate by the organization.

Location: New York, NY

Requirements: Must be current college/graduate student or recent graduate with experience working in an office environment. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel are essential. Applicants must have excellent writing and oral communication skills, strong research skills and knowledge of the internet. Furthermore, interns are expected to be detail oriented, organized, and be willing to perform a number of different tasks that may vary from day to day. In addition, Seeds of Peace seeks individuals that are able to work independently and take initiative in the workplace. Knowledge of the Middle East preferred, Hebrew or Arabic a plus.

Applicants who intend to receive college credit for this internship must make arrangements with their college/university. Seeds of Peace is not responsible for acquiring academic credits for interns.

Responsibilities: The intern will work directly with staff members of the respective department in the New York office.

Events - This position will involve assisting with the planning, coordination and promotion of events for Seeds of Peace. This position requires a minimum time commitment of 20 hours per week. Full-time interns preferred. Event Planning Responsibilities will includeconducting research for prospective meeting location/sites/venues, including meeting and exhibit space, lodging, food and beverages, telecommunications, audio-visual requirements, transportation, security, and any other event necessities. The intern will assist with management/tracking/documentation of event communications and in updating events through a detailed calendar, maintaining and updating timelines, and participating in some negotiations. The intern will also research and summarize marketing and advertising opportunities to promote the assigned event(s).
