Internship description

Job Title: Social Media Intern

Job Location: New York City

Classification: Internship (unpaid)

Time Commitment: 6-8 hours per week, primarily off-site

Supervisor: Communications Director

PROOF: Media for Social Justice is a peacebuilding organization that uses visual storytelling—including photo exhibitions and film—to promote public dialogue and reconciliation within post-conflict societies. Collaborating with community-based organizations and international NGOs, PROOF produces books, exhibits and workshops dealing with the difficult issues of genocide, rape, and child soldiers.

PROOF's current major project is a traveling exhibit called The Rescuers. It shows portraits of everyday people who helped save others during genocidal conflicts, such as the one that occurred in Cambodia between 1975 and 1979. The portraits are intended to provide role models for compassionate behavior and help viewers reflect on the nature of moral courage.

Since its founding in 2006, PROOF has engaged in on-the-ground dialogue in a number of countries, including Bosnia, Cambodia, Colombia, Darfur, Nepal, Rwanda—and right here in the United States.
