Internship description

The Position

Under the general direction of the Principal, the Education Intern will assist teachers and administrators with the entire spectrum of classroom related activities. The school primarily serves children from low income families so interns will be on the front lines attempting to help children break the cycle of poverty. This is a fantastic opportunity to dive into education and learn what it's really like to be in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct classroom of 5-10 students in conjunction with primary teacher
  • Tutor students 1 on 1 (Math, English, Reading)
  • Assisting with class room management
  • Curriculum development
  • Create mailings for sponsorship

Desired Skills:

  • Desire to teach and lead
  • Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality
  • Background in ESL and speech pathology (not required)
  • Conversational Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog or any other foreign languages.(not required)
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Computer proficiency
  • Initiative, creativity, patience
  • Attention to detail

Time Commitment:

  • Interns must work at least two days per week for a minimum of 4 hours per day
  • Days and times are flexible
  • 3 month commitment minimum
