Overview of position: The Retail Store Consignment Intern will assist the Programs Manager and Development Director in managing Iskashitaa's strategic relationships with community businesses. The intern will research local stores and be the first point of contact to establish consignment agreements for products made through Iskashitaa's Micro-enterprise Sewing and Crafts Circle. Learn and perfect critical marketing, public relations and administrative skills applicable in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, while contributing to Iskashitaa's programs' success and directly contributing to refugee crafters income.
Specific Tasks:
- Research prospective local store that would consign Iskashitaa Sewing and Crafts products
- Approach potential organization and local stores to create consignment agreements
- Represent Iskashitaa's at relevant community outreach opportunities
- Address concerns and requests from local stores where products are sold
- Help manage Iskashitaas product inventory
- Assist in the processing of crafters payouts (1099)
Time Required: 6-9 hours per week. Equivalent of 2 or 3 credit course hours.
Qualifications: In process of completing 4 year degree, Masters or the equivalency in experience

Skills/Education:
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong oral communication and writing skills
- Pursuing a degree in Retail Management, Business, Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client/donor information
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail
- Personable and professional demeanor and appearance with excellent communication, coordinating and networking skills
- Strong intercultural communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from other cultural backgrounds
Experience: Minimum of two year previous nonprofit or volunteer work or the equivalent
Training Required: On-site Iskashitaa training, Refugee 101 and internship application.
