GLAAD's Religion Faith & Values intern will work on the thrilling cutting edge of LGBT advocacy—religion. The GLAAD's RFV intern will research media contacts, draft blog posts, monitor media, expand contact data bases and research the current status of LGBT faith story coverage in mainstream media. The intern will also collaborate with the Director of Religion Faith and Values on other media activities including brainstorming strategic story pitching for high-profile national media outlets, and responding to problematic and defamatory news coverage.
PLEASE NOTE: All interns are required to be students attending an institution with courses leading to a degree, certificate or diploma.
Location: New York
15-20 hours per week – 12 week commitment

Mission The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) amplifies the voice of the LGBT community by empowering real people to share their stories, holding the media accountable for the words and images they present, and helping grassroots organizations communicate effectively. By ensuring that the stories of LGBT people are heard through the media, GLAAD promotes understanding, increases acceptance, and advances equality, promotes the fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of combating homophobia and all forms of discrimination based on sexual orientation or identity.
