Description

Founded in 1999, Cool Culture is a citywide nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low-income families access New York City arts and cultural institutions, in order to provide educational experiences for children and to strengthen the capacity of parents as their child's first educator. Cool Culture's programs address the absence of low-income families, especially people of color, in the audiences of New York City's great museums and other cultural institutions by providing free admission to families and working in partnership with early childhood education, and other parent support programs. We help our program partners to meet their goal of supporting families and allow cultural institutions to broaden the reach of their educational programs by connecting them with new, more diverse audiences. Most importantly, we enable low-income children and families to experience and enjoy the rich educational and cultural programs available at the city's cultural institutions.

Cool Culture serves over 50,000 families throughout the five boroughs and has developed partnerships with over 90 of the City's best-known cultural institutions, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, AmericanMuseum of Natural History, Museum of Modern Art, BrooklynBotanic Garden and Central Park Zoo.
