Description

Paid Internship Available – Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Institute

Interested in helping to change the face and voice of America's politics? Victory is hiring two Development and Fundraising interns for our Washington, DC office. Interns are an important part of the Development team and will gain an inside look at Victory's daily work through shadowing staff members, attending weekly team meetings, observing donor outreach, and providing direct assistance and support to the team in all areas of fundraising.

Applicants should aim to gain a detailed understanding of donor relations, proposal writing, prospect research, and fundraising strategy, in addition to training in Raiser's Edge, one of the most commonly used donor databases.

The ideal candidate should be interested in learning about non-profit management and leadership with a focused interest in resource development and fundraising. Experience in an office environment, prospect research, or direct donor solicitation a plus, but not required. Preference is given to candidates who are actively pursuing or have attained a 4 year degree and are interested in LGBT politics.

Interns receive a small stipend based on hours worked per week and have the option to earn academic credit. Additionally, interns are strongly encouraged to attend weekly professional development trainings. Both full-time and part-time internships are available.

The nonpartisan Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute are the only national organizations dedicated to helping LGBT leaders win office and serve effectively at all levels of government. Since 1991, Victory has helped more than 600 candidates win elections across the country, and trained hundreds of future leaders to participate in the political process. Victory helps give our community a voice at the table and helps our country live up to its promise of equal representation for all.
