Description

Girls' LEAP (Lifetime Empowerment and Awareness Program), founded in 1997, is an after school program that partners with community based agencies and schools to offer our self-defense and empowerment programs, at no-cost, for girls and young women aged 8-18. The mission of Girls' LEAP is to empower girls and young women to value and champion their own safety and well-being. We offer unique self-defense and empowerment programs, based on a curriculum that stresses physical safety skills and reflective activities that address the development of conflict resolution, violence de-escalation, self-esteem and courage; programs are taught by intergeneration, all-female teaching teams.

Responsibilities

Social Media

  • Work with Development Manager to update and maintain all social media (Twitter/Facebook) and our website
  • Advance our blog – Research and develop blog posts
  • Develop opportunities for staff to post on Twitter/Facebook
  • Work with Development Manger to design format/content of monthly e-newsletter
  • Research opportunities to advance/streamline Girls' LEAP social media
  • Other social media tasks as required

Development Operations

  • Data entry into Giftworks donor database
  • Mail merge and print of Thank You letters, mailing pieces, etc.
  • Excel spreadsheet management for development activities
  • Maintain and organize grant filing system
  • Internet-based research on grants, funders, community and corporate partners
  • Other development tasks as required

This internship is offered for 2-3 days, 10-15 hours a week

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of social media and willingness to learn more!
  • Knowledge of Giftworks or other database helpful, but not necessary
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Organizational skills, including demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to Girls' LEAP values and mission of empowering girls and women from a strength-based team approach
