The Small Things, a 501(c)(3) registered international nonprofit working with Nkoaranga Orphanage in Tanzania, is seeking an experienced grant-writing intern with a proven track record to help us secure grants in order to open a children's village. We currently work with an orphanage that cares for 30 children from newborns to five years. In the coming year we aim to expand into a children's village where children can stay until they reach secondary school, greatly improving the lives of these children and the ones we will take in in the future. The children will live in small family-style homes instead of the orphanage structure, with 8-12 children per house cared for by a small group of staff. We are seeking a supplementary $20,000 - $30,000 per year for operational costs, plus $150,000 or so for construction costs. We will also be approaching major donors - the grant-writer will not be working independently. They will liase with our fundraising and events committee as well as work closely with the CEO of the organization. However, as we are spread widely across the globe, most communication will be via Skype, phone, and email.
There is a strong possibility that this job will become permanent and paid for the right candidate. We will also offer the following reward scheme:
For the first grant secured: All expenses (minus airfare) paid for a two week trip to Tanzania to meet our children and learn more about our work
For over $20,000 in grants secured: Airfare and all other expenses paid for the trip above
For over $50,000 in grants secured: We would be looking at a permanent hire, plus the above mentioned benefits.
