The Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding promotes mutual respect with practical programs that bridge religious difference and combat prejudice in areas of armed conflict, schools, workplaces, and health care settings.
Tanenbaum is one of the leading organizations in the world focused on the religious dimension of cultural competence in health care. We work directly with national and international organizations ranging from large health care systems to professional medical associations to insurance providers to small- and mid-size hospitals, and participate in national and international conferences. We have also recently completely a book, The Medical Manual for Religio-Cultural Competency.
Our trainings and materials help health care professionals at all levels communicate effectively and respectfully with patients and their families around religious issues and understand the variety of ways religious beliefs and practices interface with health care. Our services include: briefings and workshops, webinars, panel discussions, conference workshops and plenary sessions, consulting on best practices as well as comprehensive needs assessments of health care facilities.
