South Bronx United, Inc. is seeking an Intern to assist in coordination and planning of its Annual Benefit. Intern will be working with support from South Bronx United board members, staff and other volunteers. Last year's event raised $44,000 to support the organization's youth development, education, mentoring, and soccer programming.
South Bronx United Soccer Club uses soccer as a vehicle for social change and aims to help youth build character, teamwork, and leadership so that they can succeed in high school, college, careers, their community and beyond. Additionally, South Bronx United strives to promote educational achievement, health and wellness and character development through activities on and off the soccer field and to UNITE a diverse group of individuals and an incredibly diverse community toward common positive goals.
Intern will report directly to the Executive Director and/or Event Coordinator with responsibilities including:
· Managing invitation process (compiling a mailing list and drafting evite text, manage RSVPs) · Soliciting and tracking ticket sales · Securing sponsors and in-kind donations (spirits sponsors, catering and auction items included) May include creating sponsorship packages · Recruiting and managing a team of volunteers leading up to and day-of event, including staff trainings · Coordinating logistics for event, including décor, music, evening format, timeline, silent auction, logistics, visuals, check-in, script etc. · Drafting, updating and distributing sponsor and event materials · Promoting event via social media (e.g. Facebook, twitter, SBU website content) · Acting as a liaison between sponsors, donors, & vendors and South Bronx United · Managing the event budget/finances for the event
Office Location: 199 Lincoln Avenue, Bronx, NY. Intern potentially could work remotely if necessary.
Special Events Intern will gain invaluable experience working on a non-profit fundraising event. Intern will also gain an understanding of the fundraising process for small nonprofit organizations, and have the opportunity to make a true impact on a young, thriving organization.
Ideal candidate will be a recent college grad with extensive volunteer coordination and event planning/fundraising experience. Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel required. Excellent verbal and written communications skills required. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.

Length of commitment: Start July 1 and continue through end of November.
Time commitment: expected 20 hours per week.
