PCI is a non-profit health and humanitarian aid organization dedicated to preventing disease, improving community health, and promoting sustainable development. At PCI, our work is fueled by the belief that we can break the cycle of poverty and poor health by addressing the root causes of disease, malnutrition, and economic insecurity. PCI's Women Empowered (WE) Initiative is an organization wide effort to raise awareness about the challenges faced by women in the developing world and promote ways by which women can create social and economic empowerment as well as better health for themselves and their children. A key intervention under this initiative is PCI's savings driven microfinance model called GROW (Grass Roots building Our Wealth). The overall objective is to phase the GROW model into programs across all PCI countries, with 150,000 women participating in savings groups by 2014.
The WE Initiative intern's primary role will be to assist and support PCI's WE Initiative HQ staff with program development, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and research. The intern must be detail-oriented and a self-starter. Specific tasks are given below.
Applicants should be a current student receiving a bachelor's or master's degree (preferred), and must receive academic credit or be able to provide an official letter from the school stating that the internship contributes to intern's education. Applicant should have an interest in development work and must have experience with monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
We are looking for dedicated individuals willing to commit to a 4 month minimum internship of 15-20 hours per week, though many tasks may be able to be performed from home office. This internship is an unpaid position located at PCI's headquarters office (5151 Murphy Canyon Road Suite 320, San Diego, CA, 92123).
