Internship description

BURN Design Lab is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to assist in the design and development of clean burning cookstoves at our Lab on Vashon Island, WA (outside of Seattle). BURN Design Lab's mission is to save lives and forests in the developing world through the design and local production of clean burning cookstoves.

The position will assist in:

- Conceptual design of clean burning biomass cookstoves for East Africa. Developing manufacturing processes by designing and modifying drawings and tools for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components.

- Turning research ideas into technical plans using computer aided design (CAD) and computer modeling programs (SolidWorks). Fabrication including sheet metal forming, welding, and general metal fabrication

Education, Training, Experience:

• Mechanical Engineering degree • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models. • SolidWorks • Familiarity with metal fabrication
