Internship description

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President for Programs, the intern will be responsible for creating an integrated public health online toolkit. The internship will be in coordination with the CORE Group and USAID's K4Health Toolkit Initiative (http://www.k4health.org/toolkits). Dissemination strategies and platforms for broad based diffusion have already been determined. Specific activities include:

Ø Research and identify sectors to include in the toolkit

Ø Write and create various tools

Ø Research and provide information linkages

Ø Develop actual tools to be included in the toolkit

Ø Other duties as assigned

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Bachelor's degree and an interest in development work with some related experience. A student enrolled in a MPH or PhD program in the Graduate School of Public Health or related master's level program preferred.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Ø Graduate student in international studies of any kind, or related academic field

Ø Interest in NGOs and international health and development

Ø Must receive school credit for internship

Ø Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Ø Fluency in English

Ø Excellent written and verbal skills

Ø Computer skills including word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheets (Excel)

Ø Experience in writing or publishing a plus

Ø Ability in a relevant second language (especially Spanish) is preferred, but not required

SCHEDULE: Minimum commitment: 15-20 hours a week for a minimum of 16 Weeks.. Flexible schedule of 15-20 hours per week, some tasks may be able to be performed from home office.

COMPENSATION:

Monthly stipend not available, but intern will have opportunities to participate in trainings and conferences. Intern will be given authorship credit based on contribution.
