Crisis Group is seeking a full-time intern for a period of six months starting 15 July 2013, to provide daily support to its Development/Fundraising Team in the Brussels Headquarters. The internship will also focus on supporting the planning of the annual Global Briefing 2013, an exclusive two-day, high-level event in Brussels on 24-25 October.
This position would suit a bilingual French/English candidate with a recent degree, seeking to gain or develop fundraising experience in a fast-paced, international NGO working to prevent and resolve deadly conflict worldwide.
Requirements:
Willingness to do a variety of tasks, including administrative work.
A recent undergraduate/post-graduate degree.
Previous internship/work experience.
Experience with event organizing is desirable.
Excellent organisational skills to simultaneously keep track of various assignments and follow-up on tasks. Ability to be flexible and work well independently, under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Fluency in verbal and written English and French; the ability to draft briefs, reports and summarize text. Knowledge in other languages would be an asset.
Possession of an EU passport, student visa or other means of working in Belgium without work permit sponsorship from Crisis Group.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Development Team in prospect research, briefing notes, grant proposals and grant reports and day-to-day grant management.
Assist with event preparations for the Global Briefing; including researching discussion topics, drafting invitations, communicating with external participants and coordinating logistical arrangements (conference and evening reception venues).
Address post-Global Briefing responsibilities such as summary reports, 'thank you' letters, expense claims, etc.
Support the development of communication materials for donors.
General administrative support, which includes enhancing and maintaining donor filing systems, and support to the team as requested.
The successful candidate must commit to the internship from 15 July 2013 - 15 January 2014.
