Fall Special Events & Development Intern (NYC office)
Background:
Immigration Equality is the only national organization devoted to winning asylum for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV-positive people fleeing persecution, and to fighting for equal treatment under United States immigration law for LGBT and HIV-positive families. Over the last year, the organization was covered in such media as the NY Times, People magazine, Newsweek, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and many more for its ongoing asylum wins and battle to gain equality for LGBT families. Immigration Equality is seeking a special events & development intern in New York City to work 15-20 hours per week for a commitment of at least three months. Because Immigration Equality's office is structured as an open, team-oriented, non-hierarchical space, development interns will also gain insight into many different facets of non-profit work, all while helping Immigration Equality raise more funds and execute more events to advance its mission.
