Established in 1973, the Eastown Community Association (ECA) is a non-profit organization governed by an elected Board of Directors. The ECA is committed to building, backing, and broadening community through proactive neighboring and community improvement. Among other programs, the ECA accomplishes this mission through: sponsoring neighborhood cleanups, establishing block clubs and encouraging proactive neighboring, planting a community garden and planning for more green spaces, working in partnership with the Eastown Business Association, helping residents find support services, celebrating community with monthly events, and working to enhance public safety. These projects represent the many on-going and visionary ways that the Eastown Community Association works in Eastown to foster healthy and sustainable community.
Duties:
This internship position would largely entail assisting the Executive Director with monthly events (clean-ups, community picnics, holiday events, etc), volunteer recruitment and maintaining the ECA's social media strategy. Other duties and opportunities include: submitting Press Releases and promotion materials to media outlets, and attending Eastown Business Association and other neighborhood and planning meetings. Self-initiated projects are also encouraged so long as they receive the approval of the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
We are looking for an intern who is highly motivated and who can work with little supervision. We want an intern who works well with others, but who is disciplined enough to carry out most duties on their own. This intern will need to be flexible and willing to take on a number of diverse tasks. A special interest in volunteer recruitment and planning fundraising events is essential.
