Grants Attainment/Research Internship

Description

Overview of position: The Grants Attainment/Research Intern will work with Development Director to identify potential funding sources based on Iskashitaa Refugee Networks mission. Intern will research past giving patterns of local and national foundations as well as deadlines and details for letters of intent and proposals. Intern will then make preliminary recommendations regarding which foundations seem to be best aligned with the mission and vision of our organization.

Specific Tasks:

  1. Assist Iskashitaa's Development Director in creating a plan to solicit grants from foundations and groups
  2. Research potential funders/ grantors
  3. Contact potential funders and donors
  4. Write thank you notes to donors
  5. Write and help create grant proposals
  6. Connect with our community partners
  7. Perform other duties as needed

Time Required: 3-9 hours per week. Equivalent of 1-3 University credit hours.

Qualifications: In process of attaining a 4 year degree or 2 year associate's degree.

Physical/Age Requirements: None

Skills/Education:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong oral communication and writing skills.
  • Interest and/or experience in food justice and sustainability, environmental science, nutrition, local foodshed management.
  • Knowledge of Iskashitaa programming and mission, preferred college education

Experience: A minimum of two year previous nonprofit or volunteer work or the equivalent

Training Required: On-site Iskashitaa training, Refugee 101 and internship application
