Description:
The rural area of the province of Santiago in the Dominican Republic is one of the poorest areas of the country. Since 2006 www.gracecares.com a USA based not-for-profit agency has been partnering with communities in the Baitoa area of the province and our local Project Director, Mr. Ruben Ottenwalder. Our Project Director/local hero has now established an NGO (www.projectheartsdr.org) in the Dominican Republic and needs assistance in growing this new organization to better assist the people in his rural community so they can help themselves.
Scope:
To assist the Project Director in supporting and expanding a local, Dominican NGO: maintain office and project management systems, strategic operational plans including fund development. The intern will work under the direction of Ruben with support from GRACE Cares to identify key partners and donors, both private, NGO and state, that can assist the community. The intern will identify funding support, grants to assist in Community Development (health, education, safe stoves, etc).
Requirements:
-BA and background and experience in Public Health, Business, International Affairs, Social Work, Program Administration
-Working fluency in Spanish.
-Ability to live and work in rural environment
-Well organized, motivated, self starter
-Computer skills in excel, PowerPoint and internet searches, etc
