Internship description

KNOWLEDGEBEAT is seeking a dedicated intern to perform a wide array of functions within the organization. This position would begin immediately and last through mid-June 2013.

About KnowledgeBeat:

We are a small and growing global nonprofit with headquarters in San Francisco. We serve children in iZambia through educational camp programs on HIV/AIDS, environmental health, and girls' empowerment.

KnowledgeBeat's mission is to help lift communities out of poverty through exposure to knowledge on these important topics, and by offering educational support via scholarships. We are currently planning to scale up our operations.

About the position:

Primary responsibilities of the role include assisting with abstracts, grant reports, and other written materials; helping with fundraising event planning; researching new channels for outreach and sponsorship; and consistent updating of the website and social media outlets. Working directly under the supervision of the Executive Director, the intern will gain first hand experience in the operation of a small but growing global development organization. Additional responsibilities may include minimal administrative help. The position requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, and work can be performed remotely with once weekly in-person meetings.

Necessary skills:

Passion for global development, particularly in Africa

Knowledge on fundraising

Understanding of social media strategy

Critical thinker who takes initiative

Professional demeanor

Excellent written and oral skills

Preferred skills:

Knowledge on the Bay Area philanthropic community

Interest in international education

Experience with non-profit organizations

This role is a wonderful opportunity for a young professional or a college senior looking for experience in the global non-profit sector.
