BORDC seeks interns for the spring 2012 semester. Opportunities are available in Washington, DC, and Northampton, MA. Opportunities are also available for remote work from anywhere in the US for candidates with reliable phone and internet access.
Northampton, MA: Interns will work primarily out of BORDC's national headquarters in downtown Northampton, but some projects can be completed remotely.
Washington, DC: Interns will primarily work remotely but will meet regularly with the organization's DC-based executive director. Interns will also be expected to attend occasional events in the DC area.
Remote: Interns will work entirely remotely but will be expected to regular communication by phone and email with the national staff. Interns will also be expected to attend any BORDC-sponsored events in their local areas.
Note: Applicants need not be current students to be considered.
15 hours per week minimum; 20 hours per week preferred.
Interns are encouraged to be available for weekly staff meetings (generally held on Monday afternoons) either in person or by teleconference.
Responsibilities will be determined based on the skills and interests of the candidate(s) and the agency's needs and may include the following:
BORDC is unable to provide financial compensation for this internship. Interns are welcome to seek out internship funding from their schools or other outside sources.
Interns are encouraged to make arrangements to receive academic credit for their internships. BORDC will accommodate the requirements of credit-earning internships as much as possible.
