Position Overview
Swords to Plowshares Employment & Training Program in our Oakland office seeks a full-time, non-exempt Job Developer to work closely with the case management team and Employment & Training Director to prepare clients for employment, securing employment opportunities for program participants, and develop business and employment contacts. This position reports to the Employment & Training Director.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Employer Networks: Develop employer contacts with private and public sectors to ascertain employer needs and to advise of agency's employment services. Perform job searches via the Internet.
• Pre-Employment Services: Assist clients with pre-employment activities: One-stop Computer Access Point, resume writing, interviewing skills, job search activities (both on-line and in person), job coaching, presentation and job retention. Provide assistance to client with purchase of proper interview attire, shoes, books and other job related items. Provide guidance to client in areas of personal presentation.
• Job Placement: Assess and evaluate job applicants to determine appropriate job interest and job match. Match client skills, aptitude and abilities to prospective employment openings and make referrals to secure job placement.
• Post-Placement Services: Maintain contact with employer and client following placement to ensure job stability. Collect employment verification letters and pay stubs as proof of client job placement. Perform necessary post-placement and post-exit follow-up to ensure participant job retention longevity.
• Contract Management: Prepare paperwork for submission to the proper agency and MIS Administrator. Maintain up-to-date client file content for accuracy and completeness. Regularly review for timeliness. Prepare reports and statistical data as needed for submission.
• Outreach/Community Relations: Assist with outreach activities as assigned to recruit potential eligible clients through periodic out stationing at EDD/One-Stop locations. Attend Job Fairs and Meetings as delegated by Director.
• Perform any other employment related task as identified and delegated by Director

The ideal candidate will have
• BA in any Behavioral Science; (Social Work, Sociology, Psychology) or English, or an equivalent combination of college course work and experience
• Minimum of two (2) years experience providing job counseling and job development to disadvantaged, hard-to-serve populations; particularly the employment readjustment of military veterans
• Demonstrated skills in public relations, personnel recruitment, or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of Internet and web resources for online job search.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, detail-oriented
• Flexibility and willingness to perform multiple jobs in a work environment with changing priorities; and the ability to meet multiple deadlines while maintaining a professional composure
• Proactively take initiative in problem solving
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to interact well with people from diverse economic, ethnic and educational backgrounds; Ability to follow through reliably on assigned tasks
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Fluent in MS Office Suite and associated software and Internet search tools
• Position requires prolonged sitting and repetitive hand movement using a computer keyboard in the performance of daily office activities.
Must be able to perform all essential functions as described within what would be considered reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency's Cultural Humility Initiative.
