Civic Works is hiring several Canvassers to mobilize residents to upgrade the energy efficiency of their homes and create green jobs for underserved residents. The Canvassers will engage homeowners by canvassing neighborhoods door-to-door. The ideal candidates will be committed to getting results and have good interpersonal skills. This is a part-time position beginning immediately and ending on July 31, 2013, with the opportunity for an extension. Canvassers have the opportunity to combat climate change and bring about real economic benefits for those who need them the most. They will build a strong skill set that will help them excel in future field campaigns and non-profit sector jobs.
Retrofit Baltimore is a program of the non-profit Civic Works. Its mission is to transform the clean energy economy into a pathway out of poverty for underserved Baltimore residents. The program does this by using innovative community organizing tactics to grow the demand for home energy improvements. Leveraging this demand, Retrofit Baltimore then connects homeowners with businesses that have agreed to exclusively hire underserved residents and implement equitable employment standards. Civic Works' green initiatives have been highlighted by Green for All, The Baltimore Sun, The Washington Post, and the US Conference of Mayors. Join us in creating a more just and equitable clean energy economy. For more information on Retrofit Baltimore, please visit www.retrofitbaltimore.org.
Resume and cover letter are preferred. Please apply to Matty Guerin, Retrofit Baltimore Field Director, at jobs@retrofitbaltimore.org and include "Canvasser" in the subject line. Applicants will be hired on a rolling basis.
