Job Summary

The Data Strategist is responsible for developing effective, executable, data-driven marketing strategies through the creation of reports, generating & processing data exports, identifying and executing successful constituent contact programs, and ensuring data integrity is maintained. The Data Strategist works with the organization's donor databases (Raiser's Edge and Convio) and email lists to identify trends, analyze metrics, and strategically plan for overall list growth and ensures that the organization is adhering to best practices for list management and growth. This role provides leadership on the effective use of the databases to others in the organization, works with outside vendors, provides support and training to staff, and works across all departments to ensure that our constituents are communicated with effectively both online and offline.

The position is based in our New York office.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify new opportunities for data sourcing.
  • Manage the relationship between Raiser's Edge and Convio databases and proactively monitor the databases for duplicates and inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with the digital team to identify opportunities to increase conversion rates for online constituent contact.
  • Utilize Convio and Raiser's Edge to evaluate trends in constituent behavior, work across teams internally to identify and implement solutions.
  • Create and generate all data imports/exports, including data sync with Convio, which is used for the organizations online giving, events, actions, and email.
  • Analyze and problem-solve issues with current databases as they relate to the integration and management of constituent data.
  • Research and implement online giving campaigns.
  • Work with other departments to provide tools and information to help grow the organization.
  • Work with the finance team to perform monthly reconciliations and provide support for the annual audit.
  • Work with outside vendors; including data management services.
  • Perform data entry, either manually or using scanning technology, when needed or required.
  • Provide application support and training for end users.
  • Other duties as assigned, requested, or required.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Required: A bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or related field; an equivalent of work experience and education may be considered.
  • Required: Raiser's Edge experience and Convio or similar CRM experience. Preferred experience integrating Raiser's Edge and Convio.
  • Required: Experience managing a relational database. SQL programming and experience using Microsoft SQL (2000-2008), Oracle and/or MySQL.
  • Required: Knowledge of and experience with database reporting tools, such as Crystal Reports.
  • Track record of success with email list targeting and growth.
  • Experience with A/B testing, developing reports, and performing data analysis across departments.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to LGBT issues; commitment to GLAAD's mission, goals and work.

Supervision

The Data Strategist will report to the Director of IT and will also be an integral part of the digital team, as well as the Development and Finance departments.

Compensation

This is full time exempt position. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include: 403(b) retirement plan; escalating vacation beginning with three weeks; paid sick, personal days and holidays; and organization paid health benefits for employees including medical, dental, vision, flex spending accounts and life and long-term disability insurance.
