POSITION SUMMARY
Facilitate placements and employment opportunities for program graduates. Builds rapport with and maintains professional relationships with employers. Duties include scheduling meetings with employers to build relationships, but also to assist with and facilitate their hiring needs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for creating, implementing, and updating placement and retention strategies for the program. Strategies should adhere to program expectations and in some cases, must be created individually based on employer needs.
- Creates, builds, and maintains professional relationships with employers. Specific duties include, but not limited to, visiting current and new employers on a monthly basis, and scheduling regular phone calls.
- Schedules and coordinates meetings and presentations with potential employers on a monthly basis.
- Responsible for coordinating career fairs, notifying and recruiting additional employers for career fairs.
- Provides career services and employment opportunities to program participants and graduates. Services included are, but not limited to, job search preparation, resumes, references, interviewing skills, and other employability related skills.
- At the direction of the Associate Director of Training, works with case manager to assist program participants with Individual Service Plan (ISP) implementation relating to job readiness and employability skills.
Specific duties include, but not limited to:
- Meeting with Case Manager and Associate Director of Training on a weekly basis to update program participants' progress.
- Works with Case Manager to create and implement job retention strategies for program participants.
- Responsible for facilitating hiring process on behalf of program participants. Activities included must be throughout the hiring process, from beginning of job searching until up to the job offer.
Specific duties include, but not limited to:
- Assisting program participants with job searching as needed, including properly filling out applications.
- Assisting program participants with their needs to ensure they are properly prepared prior to attending interviews.
- Providing program participants with appropriate information about a company prior to interviews.
- Scheduling interviews with employers on behalf of program participants.
- Following-up with program participants after interviews.
- Following-up with employers after interviews.
- Assisting program participants during the negotiation stage as needed.
- Assisting program participants to fill-out new hire packages as needed.
- Responsible for conducting regular check-ins with employers/supervisors to document graduates' progress as soon as they are hired. Works with Training Coordinator to ensure all check-in documents match.
- Provides employment follow-up on all program participants after placement. Advocates for program participants as needed.
- Updates the Associate Director of Training on a daily basis of all placement activities.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in staff and team meetings. Communicates and coordinates with Associate Director and appropriate staff as needed.
- Maintains updated labor marker data and information.
- Creates and submits updated reports to the Associate Director of Training on a weekly basis.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Training.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or College.
- Must have a minimum of four (4) years placement experience.
- Must be technology savvy and proficient with Microsoft word/excel programs, internet, and electronic calendars and information sharing required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must possess the ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times, including excellent written, verbal, and strong presentation skills.
- Must have the ability to utilize various methods of soliciting employment opportunities for program participants. Methods included are cold calling and random employer visits.
- Must be well-organized with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Must have the ability to prepare and submit accurate and reliable reports.
- Must have the skill and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employers and program participants.
- Must be able to work with individuals with significant barriers to employment.
